Hello Everyone and welcome to my blog. Here I will be writing about my photography adventures. I will write a blog after my photoshoots and the photos have been processed, there will be behind the scenes photos, reviews, before and after photos and I will also be looking at writing monthly summaries highlighting certain activities from the month. For my first blog post I would like to introduce myself. My name is Mj, I am currently residing in Edmonton Alberta. I say currently as I like to travel, I have lived in three different provinces and sixteen cities (or towns). I am a mother of 3 and a full time college student. I love nature, animals, children (especially babies, they are so cute), hiking, travelling, discovering new places, gardening, and the mountains. My passion for hiking, the mountains and nature sparked the inner photographer leading me to where I am today. I grew up with cameras heavily in my life. Below is a picture of me around a year old playing with my grandmothers camera case. I didn't realize that 32 years later I would have a studio, an office and an amazing Canon camera. I have a collection of cameras starting from a Brownlee Jr. (roughly 1932 camera) and working my way through the years to my newest Canon. When you visit me at my office you can see them pridefully displayed on a shelf among my plants.
I currently have been trying my hand at just about any type of photography to find my niche. I have been learning that Portraiture is where I shine the most. I have worked with a wide variety of people from children to elderly; I have worked with several models (published and unpublished), fashion designers, make-up artists, families, and animals. I really enjoy capturing people in the moment thus capturing people's genuine selves.
My Hobby Became My Job
Since I upgraded to my first DSLR camera in 2011, I have watched my passion bloom from a hobby to my job. I have met so many amazing people and I have watched my photography blossom substantially with the support of friends, family and many others. I wouldn't be where I am without them. I am looking forward to capturing more moments in time that people can never relive. Photography has allowed me to capture so many memories for myself and others. I know that photography has made a huge difference in my life and here is 10 ways it has:
Capturing moments in time I can never relive but I can alway enjoy the memories the photos bring.
I have built everlasting friendships.
The ability to step outside of my comfort zone while doing something I love.
Built my self confidence.
Ignited the creative creator inside me.
Showed me beauty around me during the rough mental health days.
Helped me document the growth of myself and my children.
Fed my desire for knowledge.
Shown me the beauty within myself that I don't normally see.
Given me the ability to show people the beauty within themselves.
Photography shows different perspectives that some may not see. I find it beautiful and meaningful. I look forward to creating more works of art in the future with many more people.
